Hawaii’s Leland Green hit a 3-pointer with 1:22 to go to tie the game. The Gauchos turned the ball over but Green missed a jumper giving the ball to UCSB with 32 seconds remaining. Clifton Powell missed a jumper but Hart was able to tip the ball in over a crowd in the paint.
The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Gauchos (3-21, 2-10 Big West) while the Rainbow Warriors (12-13, 6-6) lost their second straight and dropped to fifth in the conference standings.
Hart scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for UCSB.
Gibson Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double at Hawaii.
UCSB led 32-26 at halftime. Hawaii rallied to tie with 13 minutes left in the game before UCSB built a nine-point lead with 8:39 left.
Green who played for the first time in four games, finished with seven points.
UH won the first meeting in Honolulu by 22 points on the strength of a career-high 34 points from Noah Allen. Allen was held to just six points this time nd Hawaii shot just 36 percent from the floor, including 6-of-25 (24 percent) on three-pointers. UH also committed 16 turnovers, which the Gauchos parlayed into 24 points.
Wahine fall
Cal Davis put away Hawaii with a 17-point third quarter run, send the Wahine a 69-50 loss, their fifth in a row and third straight at home.
Freshman Courtney Middap came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points for Hawaii (8-16, 4-8 Big West), making three 3-pointers, in 15 minutes.
Morgan Bertsch led the first-place Aggies (19-6, 10-2) with 24 point and Pele Gianotti had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
